Can I please see this new movie? I just don't have the money... yet.
Mr. Pierce was the manager of the local theater. He had loved movies his whole life and still enjoyed the magic that accompanied a movie theater experience. Mr. Pierce also played piano and painted while hanging out with his wife and their two dogs. His grandchildren would visit often but he stayed busy.
Jared was a student at the high school down the road. On the way home, Jared would walk by and scan all of the movie posters to try and see the latest and greatest before it was out. There are other ways to do this, but Jared seemed like a kid from a different generation that still enjoyed the magic and excitement of the movie experience. Mr. Pierce had no issues with Jared walking by and saw a little of himself when watched Jared decoding the movie posters for plot information or for hidden goodies. All in all, it made Mr. Pierce happy to see someone enjoy the movies the way that he did.
One day, after a certain blockbuster film had hit theaters, Mr. Pierce noticed Jared looking sad while moping around the corner. Mr. Pierce called out to Jared and asked him why he had not seen him at the movies in a while.
Jared explained that he did not have the money to go and really wanted to see the film. Since Mr. Pierce had asked, Jared asked him if there was anyway he could float an IOU or let him work at the theater to earn enough to see it. Mr. Pierce was a little skeptical, but he did know Jared's parents did work hard and that Jared from what he heard was a good student. Mr. Pierce thought about it and then thought it was interesting since he had not seen the movie either.
